Club Information

Middle School 4-H Master Chefs (4 spots available)

This club will focus on how to properly and safely chop vegetables and meat, how to prevent food borne illnesses, and how to make tasty, healthy meals.  The club is open to 7th and 8th students.  All meetings will be held at the McCracken County Extension Office at 2025 New Holt Road from 4:00 – 5:30 P.M.

Meeting dates are:  October 17th, October 24th, November 14th, November 21st, December 5th, December 12th

Beginner Cooking Club

The Country Ham Project is one of the largest 4-H programs in the state, with over 700 youth participating in two categories, (smoked and unsmoked). In the past 2 years all of the members from McCracken County won blue ribbons at the Kentucky State Fair along with 2 members winning first place in their division and one winning third place.

The youth are required to attend 75% of the meetings, and are required to go to the state fair to have their hams judged based on texture, smell, and overall appearance of the hams.

Youth must give 3 – 5 minute speech on a pre-selected topic at the state fair. The program will start in the middle of the spring and will last until the opening day of the Kentucky State Fair. If you are interested in participating, please contact a 4-H agent today at (270) 554-9520. Price for the program is $60.00 in 2016 (and you get to keep the hams!!)
